Insulation Resistance Test Sequence

NAC-Trainer March 1, 2020

Step 1.  Unplug the appliance and have the plug ready to test.

Step 2.  Connect one of the test leads of the Insulation Tester to the Earth Pin and the other one to the Neutral Pin. Set the tester to the required voltage (500V) and press and hold the TEST button – (based on using the Socket and See IRC Pro) the tester will display a value in Ohms or if it is out of its range then something like this: >299 MΩ or 999MΩ

Step 3. Connect one of the test leads of the Insulation Tester to the Earth Pin and the other one to the Live Pin. Set the tester to the required voltage (500V) and press and hold the TEST button – (based on using the Socket and See IRC Pro) the tester will display a value in Ohms or if it is out of its range then something like this: >299 MΩ or 999MΩ

Step 4.  You are looking for a reading of more than 2MΩ on both tests.

If your reading is lower than 2MΩ on either test, then further investigation is needed.
